July 20-22 – 27th Annual Hartford Festival of Jazz in Hartford, CT

This is the largest free jazz event in New England, attracting more than 70K fans during the 3-day fest in 2017! Artists include with Orchestra Espada featuring Nestor Torres, Spyro Gyra, Michon Young, Elon Trotman’s Caribbean Connection featuring Bernie Williams and Nestor Torres and many more!

The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership is proud to announce the 21st annual Summer Music Series.  The FREE concerts brings a cool vibe of smooth sounds by combining national and international artists with local musicians to the downtown area over the course of the summer.

July 20-22 – Jazz & Ribs Fest, Columbus, OH

Nothing says summer fun than a barbecue, good music and great friends; you get it ALL at this three-day event taking place on both sides of the Scioto River in Bicentennial, West Bank and Genoa Parks with the addition of 33 acres of parkland at this FREE festival! 23 award-winning BBQ teams from around the country will compete for ‘Best Ribs’ bragging rights. Continuous jazz on three stages all weekend long!

July 21 – 2nd Annual Gateway Jazz Festival, Chesterfield, MO

The Gateway Jazz Festival is more than an outdoor concert, it’s an event! It’s a place to people-watch, eat, drink, mingle, relax, soak in the rays, and hear some of the coolest music and will feature classy veterans who have set the standard to young lions taking the jazz scene by storm. Just west of St. Louis, this will be one of the hottest Smooth Jazz festivals of the summer!

Artists include Boney James, Will Downing, Gateway Jazz Allstars featuring Jonathan Butler and Alex Bugnon, Bach to the Future featuring Michael Silverman and Cindy Bradley.

July 23-28 – 8th Annual Parker Summer Jazz Workshop for students, San Diego, CA

In order to prepare our kids to be the next generation of musicians, they’ve got to be well taught. Francis Parker School in San Diego is partnering with the Music Box and  radio station Jazz 88.3 to offer middle and high school students an opportunity to study and play music with professional jazz musicians while learning performance skills, improvisation, jazz theory and history.

One-week sessions are held at Francis Parker School’s Thielmann Music Center. Students give a closing performance at the Music Box, one of San Diego’s premier concert venues. Beginning, intermediate and advanced students are welcome at this hands-on workshop designed to nuture their growth as musicians. We hope to see a new batch of artists blossom at these workshops…will you be there?

July 26-29 – Brickman Bootcamp for Songwriters, Cleveland, OH

Join composer, producer, radio personality and keyboardist Jim Brickman for three days of songwriting, music business workshops and the chance to perform at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! This is for songwriters, musicians and lyricists with a desire to share their talent and develop a path to success while getting hands-on experience with industry pros, get expert feedback on your songs and ideas and get insider secrets on creating, promoting and selling your music. Now – September 8 – HuskyShow Summer Concert Series at McClellan Conference Center, Sacramento, CA

It’s going to be a hot time in Sacramento this year at the COOLEST venue – The Hangar at McClellan Conference Center – with the same world-class style you’ve come to love with HuskyShows!  While we still mourn the loss of the outdoor Grove at the Red Lion Hotel from two years ago, producer Tom Huskiens has quickly made this a sweet stop at this larger indoor venue! What’s not to love about being easier to find, easier to park, safe and secure access and lighting, professional food service and beverages, a hotel within walking distance AND a climate-controlled indoor venue (no more sweltering in the hot Sacto sun!)? It’s time to make that monthly pilgrimage to the McClellan!

August 4 – Vanport Jazz Festival, Portland, OR

Tickets are now on sale for Portland’s hottest Jazz festival of the summer! Vanfest will also feature a food and beverage garden that will feature the best of Portland’s best food carts, wine from Sokol Blosser Winery and microbrews and spirits made in Oregon.Artists include Norman Brown, Lalah Hathaway, Najee, Jonathan Butler, Jazmin Ghent and Kenney Poison!

August 4 – Chateau Ste. Michelle Festival of Jazz, Woodinville, WA

Washington State’s oldest winery is surrounded by 105 wooded acres and unique craftsman-style architecture, acting as an oasis for every one who visits. This year’s summer concert schedule is proud to present their Festival of Jazz for one day only with Christ Botti, Morgan James, Sarah Niemietz and Snuffy Walden and San Francisco favorites Tuck and Patti. Other shows are an eclectic mix of rock, blues, Latin,  bluegrass, oldies, commemorative tours (Jethro Tull and Yes are celebrating 50 YEARS in the biz!) and are scheduled at the chateau from June 10 – September 15.

August 10-12 – 31st Annual Long Beach Jazz Festival in Long Beach, CA

3 days of fun in the sun, great food and music music MUSIC! Revel at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, for the third annual Derby City Jazz Festival. The DCJF is a festival committed to bringing Smooth Jazz and Bourbon enthusiasts to Louisville for a fun destination weekend.

August 11 – 2nd Annual Phil Denny’s Smooth Jazz Fete at the Armory, Lansing, MI

Independent artist-produced and Lansing-based saxophonist Phil Denny brings Smooth Jazz to the Eastside community in an outdoor setting at the centrally located Armory. Enjoy a full day of engaging and entertaining music encompassing Smooth and Contemporary Jazz, Pop and R&B instrumental and vocal performances by British keyboardist Oli Silk, Steve Cole, David P. August 31 – September 2 – 2nd Annual Riverfront Jazz Festival, Dallas, TX

Labor Day weekend is gonna be HOT in Dallas when Curtis King brings you the second annual Riverfront Jazz Fest to the Lone Star state! King has traveled the country for 15 years to frequent and study major music festivals to bring you the best of Jazz, Blues and Soul for one weekend on three stages while also showcasing promising youth artists from Dallas/Fort Worth and around the country for your listening pleasure. This is one of those cool, quirky events that showed up a while ago that I thought might be fun. A music fest held at the grounds of where they filmed the show, DALLAS Labor Day weekend. The best names in Adult Contemporary, Country, Jazz and Old School R&B! Artists on the Jazz stage include Norman Brown, Marion Meadows, Peter White, Najee, Gregory Porter, Euge Groove, Spyro Gyra and David Sanborn! He’s doing it again! September 21-22 – Martini Blu Wine & Jazz Festival – Galveston, TX

Ya gotta hand it to The Martini Blu Jazz Café for their resilience! Last year, the Houston nightspot was all ready to host their first ever festival…then it got cancelled by Hurricane Harvey. This year, they’re trying it again, hosting their two day festival at the temperature-controlled Moody Gardens in Galveston! Two nights of stellar entertainment under the stars, great food and a cool vibe that Martini Blu is known for. September 28-29 – 2nd Annual Vrroom Festival, Durham, NC

It worked so well, they’re doing it again! The producers wanted a unique Jazz experience in a small and intimate setting. So they’ve decided on creating a festival at a small venue with an amazing lineup, room packages for their out of town guests, Mix & Mingles and other surprises all included with each ticket.

This year’s artists include Nick Colionne, Oli Silk, Dee Lucas with Willey Bradley, Art Sherod, Jr. with Chantae Cann and Latin Jazz with Humberto Ramirez. Musical Director John Dillard will keep the music poppin’!

October 13 – Sax on the River’s Smooth Jazz Concert for the Cure, Sacramento, CA

A fabulous local show near and dear to my heart that just keeps getting bigger and better with each passing year! This festival has grown over the years to where it outgrew its name and cozy backyard setting on the water and this year is teaming up with Sacramento promoter Tom Huskiens of HuskyShows to bring to you their best show ever! Candy Dulfer, The Peet Project and Jeff Ryan will bring their ‘A’ game to Raley Field for a full day of music, fun and information to raise funds for breast cancer prevention and research. A live and silent auction, wine wall and auction will ensure a day full of good times for a good cause. GO!

October 16-21 – 3rd Annual Algarve Smooth Jazz Festival, Algarve, Portugal

I always love presenting to you festivals outside of the US. Our friend, Christian Bossner, always brings the best to Europe for a party that’s really hard to beat, especially when it’s in a picturesque location like Portugal. This year, he’s pulling out all the stops at the Vila Vita Parc Resort with plenty of fun in the sun, day excursions and great evening concerts! With artists and groups like Norman Brown, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Peter White, Paul Taylor, Marc Antoine, Michael Lington, Brian Bromberg, Lindsey Webster, Lin Rountree and Rocco Ventrella (and many more to be announced), it’s going to be a wild week! October 18-21- Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Clearwater, FL

Get your party ON at the 38th Annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday! Coming a long way from their humble beginnings of concerts on the back of a flatbed truck and at venues around Clearwater, this four-day and night live music festival is enjoyed by over 35k people in October, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year to Coachman Park with the Gulf of Mexico as its magnificent backdrop. The festival’s diverse lineup covers a wide array of musical styles and showcases a new generation of artists, emerging stars and classic legends.
